the allegations of kejriwal against bjp are politically motivated -vijender Gupta

New Delhi, 1st February. The allegation of Shri Arvind Kejriwal that BJP has remained silent over the arbitrary increase of power tariff is wrong and misleading. Rather Shri Kejriwal has highlighted the issue much later and joined the band wagon of the BJP in raising this issue.

The issue of Sheila Dikshit’s favouring the private companies and issuing illegal directions to DERC to increase the tariff has been raised by BJP Delhi Pradesh President Shri Vijender Gupta many times in the past. A complaint was lodged with the police station at I.P. Estate against Sheila Dikshit and others on 13th October, 2012 with request to register the criminal case against them.

Approximately 25 press conferences, demonstrations and protests were held regarding these illegal and anti people directions to DERC to raise the power tariff. Smt. Sheila Dikshit has even filed a defamation case in Delhi High Court against Shri Vijender Gupta, for leveling charges that her government has favored electricity companies for illegal gains before the public since July, 2010.

Shri Vijender Gupta on 7-6-10 had written an open memorandum to Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister and on 15-6.10 had written to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Delhi, charging the Delhi Government of unfair practice and illegal blocking of power tariff reduction.

Ex-MLA of BJP Shri Nand Kishore Garg had filed a petition on this issue before the High Court. The allegation of Kejriwal that BJP has not raised this issue even after the reply of RTI is not correct. This allegation is wrong and seems have been made due to lack of information.

Sheila Dikshit’s favoring companies and issuing illegal directions to DERC to raise tariff has been raised by the BJP and the Party will continue to fight against it in future also. The increase in tariff and related issue has been raised in the Delhi Assembly many times by the BJP MLAs, and at times some have been forcibly removed by the Government from proceedings of the House.
