Five lakh children may be deprived of education due to the negligence of Government

GOVERNMENT SHOULD GRANT RECOGNITION TO ALL THE NON RECOGNISED SCHOOLS IN THE CAPITAL WITHIN 7 DAYS – VIJENDER GUPTA

New Delhi, 8th Feb. BJP Delhi has demanded the Government that it should grant recognition to all the non-recognized public schools of the capital within a week. If the Government does not grant recognition to these schools then 5 lakh children studying these schools may be deprived of education. He told that in view of the future of the children attending schools, Government should immediately grant recognition. Besides this the Government should also ensure that such schools are not opened in future which do not comply with the rules and laws in this regard. Government should also explain that how these schools were opened? These schools could not have been opened without the connivance of Government. Firstly the Government allows schools to be opened in violation of rules and later on it puts the future of lakhs of children in dark by failing to recognize these schools.

BJP Delhi Pradesh President Shri Vijender Gupta told that under Section-18(5) of Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act at 2009, those non-recognized schools which have not been granted recognition within three years of its opening shall be closed forever. The number of such schools in Delhi is in hundreds. These schools have been requesting the Chief Minister, Education Minister, Education Secretary, Education Director etc. for recognition but they have not been granted recognition as yet without assigning any reason.

This is matter of grave concern that since new session is going to start from 1st April, 2013 they have only one and a half month times left with them. They are worried about the fact that the Government which could not grant recognition for many years, how will it grant recognition within one and a half month?

Shri Gupta further told that about 5 lakh children are studying in these schools at present. These children have to purchase books, copies, dress etc. for the next classes from 1st April, 2013. But the parents are worried because even if they spend thousands on these items, it is not certain that these schools shall open after 31st March, 2013. Government should clarify its position immediately because the case is connected with the Right to Education of 5 lakh children.
