Delhi should become fully literate State

All the students seeking admission should be ensured admission in the schools – Vijender Gupta

New Delhi, 3rd December. BJP has demanded that Delhi Government should take steps to make Delhi fully literate State and all the children should be ensured admission to the Government and private schools under right to education. Government should also issue directions for the admission so that the arbitrariness of the private schools may end. Government should also take punitive action against the private schools violating the directions.

BJP Delhi Pradesh President Shri Vijender Gupta has said that every year the Government makes promises at the time of admissions yet the private schools exploits the parents. This year the Government has announced that the common forms be provided for admission to all the private schools of the capital so that the private school management may not exploit the parents. We have to see whether Delhi Government is able to fulfil its promise.

He further told that the Government should accord priority for opening private schools in sufficient numbers for providing education to the children in their neighbourhood so that the parents may not face difficulty at the time of admission. At present there are 2000 public schools in the capital. Out of these there are 200 schools for which the parents compete for admission of their children because these schools are among the reputed schools of Delhi.

Most of the parents complain that these famous schools force the parents to purchase prospectus with the admission forms. Those parents who refuse to purchase the prospectus are denied admission forms. Most of the schools sell the forms in black-market. They sell this form only for a day or two in the schools and after that not available board is displayed. Parents filled about 10 forms for the admission of their children. During this process they spend about 10 thousand rupees only for getting the admission forms.

Shri Gupta has demanded that Delhi Government should prescribe common admission forms and provide them on-line also so that the parents may download the forms and fill them form submitting to the respected schools and ensure relief to the parents. Government has also fix 15% quota for EWS category from class-2 to Class-12. The private schools are opposing this step of the Government. It is the responsibility of the Government to ensure admission to all the children so that Delhi may become a fully literate State.
